Out from the Lab Coats and into the Codes: The Pursuit of Self Actualization.

The night sky filled with stars being reflected off a body of water

Medicine is ingrained in our family's DNA, with a diverse array of healthcare professionals spanning across generations. From my uncle's pioneering work in family medicine and holistic health to cousins in nursing and a niece specializing in music therapy as an occupational therapist, the medical field has always been a prevalent trait in our family. Following this lineage, I initially pursued a pre-med degree with a focus on Kinesiology, inspired by my high school football experience and a subsequent injury that led me to appreciate the world of physical therapy.

However, recognizing the prolonged commitment required for a career in physical therapy, I made a strategic shift to Clinical Laboratory Sciences. After working as a Lab Support Technician during the pandemic, I found fulfillment but also observed the limitations of advancement within this field. Seeking a new avenue for personal and professional growth, I took a bold step into the dynamic realm of software development and web design, discovering surprising parallels between the precision of laboratory work and the creative freedom inherent in coding.

The realization that the skills acquired in the laboratory: discipline, analytical thinking, and a knack for experimentation, seamlessly translate into the world of software engineering is both empowering and motivating. The journey is not just about acquiring technical proficiency; it's a holistic transformation, which as begun shaping me into a versatile problem-solver equipped to thrive in the digital landscape. In the coming years, I'm excited to see where this path will lead me.
